Default Hypertech Programmer Problem

I got my Hypertech Programmer today. When I plug it in I get a screen that says Flash Memory Corrupt and when I push the up arrow it says Error 24. Does anyone know what is happening with it?

I called them this morning and he told me it has a problem with it's memory and there was nothing they would do with it. Basicly he told me i bought a paperweight. I contacted the people I bought it from and they are refunding my money. I'm going to have to buy a new one but you can bet it's going to be a Superchips unit. The people I got it from bought it new and they called Hypertech and was told the same thing. Like i said I'm glad the people i got it from are honest. When I called I gave him the ser # and he told me who bought it new and where they were from. These people paid $350.00 for it a year ago and Hypertech told them to get screwed!

Default hypertech issue

Rare TA,

I have had my hypertech programmer for since march of 03 and used it a couple of times. I went to use it the other day and it said flash memory corrupt. What did you do to resolve this when you had this problem? I called hypertech and sent the programmer back to them already. Just wondering how it all worked out for you? I'm worried because I last had it set to the 87 octane setting and perhaps they will lose my factory program when they go to reprogram the Hypertech unit. Odd that it quit working on me though. Let me know what you think. If anyone else has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks,
autob79

Default Same thing

I bought a Hypertech used about 2 years ago. It worked fine until recently after I had a check engine light come on. I wanted to "uninstall" the Hypertech before taking the truck to the dealer (or Autozone) to read the codes. When I plugged it in, it says "Flash Memory Corrupt". I haven't called them, but I'd bet I'm out of luck since I bought it used.

Please post results with the Superchips tuner.

Default hypertech

I'm sure that since it was bought used, you probably are out of luck. I am still waiting to either hear back from Hypertech or receive my programmer back. The odd thing is that they never asked for a copy of the sales receipt, just who I purchased it from (new from a reputable online retailer) and for the serial number off of the programmer. I guess only time will tell whether I am out of luck or not. As of right now I am in the same boat as you CJWEST - I can't unprogram my truck. I wonder how we will ever get back a stock program? I don't want to have to pay the dealer for a flash, and I'm not sure that the flash would work with the Hypertech program installed. Any input?

When this happens, they reprogram your unit with stock programming for your specific truck.

When you receive the programmer back, you will follow a slightly different procedure (supplied instructions) that downloads stock settings into your PCM. At this point, your truck is back to stock, and you can do what you need - like take it to the dealer. The programmer can also be used to reprogram as usual.

I've been through this several times with no problem - even having to take the truck through emmissions. I don't know why the flas memory goes corrupt over time - just hope Hypertech is around each time.

Default I think the dealer can reprogram...

I believe that the dealer can still reprogram the computer with the stock settings, even with the Hypertech installed.

I bought that one used also. They wouldn't touch it cause it was a used sale and I got lucky and the person I got it from was an honest person and took it back with a full refund. When I called them they asked for the ser# and told me who bought it new. It was the same person I got it from. I bought another one off e-bay and that one worked and is still programed into my truck. I have it set at the highest setting and what a differance it makes. It pulls my 24 Ft enclosed trailer great without any pinging and just trucks down the road. In July we are heading off to the Carlisle Mopar show with it in tow and I plan on leaving it set where it is unless it gives problems.
