Barry Grant Carbs, RIP?!
Wow, they went under Feb 18, 2011? Lost his house? WTF? That is poor planning on an otherwise good product! Geez...Maybe they should have made the six shooter a little cheaper?
Quote: Barry Grant Carburetors: 1985-2011 This just in from Barry Grant. We’re very disappointed to hear that a great company has hit hard times. We wish Barry and his crew the best, and if the automotive aftermarket has its druthers, we suspect BG will reemerge soon, some how and some way. Ironically, FordMuscle get’s this message just two days after finally landing an ad contract with BG (after about 10 years of trying.) From Barry Grant As of today, February 18, 2011 we are ceasing operations at our Dahlonega location and all subsidiary locations. Working with all of you has been the experience of a lifetime. I will value your support as friends, customers, vendors, and media contacts forever. The economic situation has put the company in the position of not being able to find working capital needed to continue operations and get a chapter 11 reorganization plan through the court. In addition to this, is that all of our equipment has been breaking down causing production delays and further hurting cash flow. Reluctantly now we must convert to chapter 7 liquidation after 26 years of business. The financial collapse has closed, or has caused severe restructuring of many companies in our industry. Many individuals have lost everything. We have even lost our home. This is the most humbling experience of my life, and I have no future plans at this point. Thank You for Your Many Years of Support. |

Im almost skeptical of the authenticity of this post which I brought over here from another Ford board I saw it on. Il looks legit, but something about "his" press release smells bad. Hope its not guerrilla marketing from a competitor.

Drag Illustrated confirmed the authenticity of the message. It's sad to say that BG is gone.

I've had no problems with my SpeedDemon. I know others that have had no problems as well.
The majority of the problems that I've read about were people buying the wrong carb for the application. Somehow it is BGs fault that people buy MightyDemons for mostly stock engines and it won't run right on that engine. |

Dunno, E. The BG web site recommends carb models based soley on the cam timing at .050. Seems like alot of customers bought the wrong carb on bad advice from BG itself. My Demon had the flooding issue that I couldnt fix. Every O ring that I bought sheared when I assembled the needle/seat assy. And no one could explain it. I would tear it down and every freaking time there would be a O ring sliver stuck in the seat. It sure looked nice though.

I have run BG gas and alky carbs for 6 years now and never had a problem with them.the biggest thing i saw wrong with them was that 90% of the street guys and wantabe hot rodders didn't know how to tune them. I use them on my dirt modified and will never go back to anything else.
