Are You One of Those Guys?

A plumber came to our office the other day to swap out the break room faucet. A couple days later someone complained that the sprayer didn't come out far enough to be useful so I popped off the panel that covers the under-sink plumbing and immediately saw that the plumber fed the water supply lines through the loop of hose that hangs down from the sprayer which limited how far it could pull out to about 8". I closed the valves to the faucet, unhooked the lines and routed them around the sprayer hose. No big deal, done in five minutes.

A lady that was watching me asked if I was one of those guys that thought they could fix anything. I wasn't sure how to answer, her tone sounded like she was speaking from bad experience. That or she believes too many TV commercials where the guy is a bumbling idiot. I told her I can fix a lot but more importantly, I know what I can't fix. She left and I guess was unimpressed. It was a very strange interaction.

That's an unusual encounter. I generally don't like people too know I am capable of general repairs otherwise they will have a list of repairs they need done.��
