I have a '64 Dodge Polara 4dr with a single speed wiper and I would like to change it to a multi speed/variable motor. Is it doable? Can you fix me up?

A quick question for you.. My 70 Roadrunner has what i believe to be a 3speed wiper. The switch clicks to 3 positions, although the dash only has two On settings. When wired up i can only get the wipers to work or connect the washer and only the washer works. I think I need a 3 speed switch or a two speed wiper but I am unsure. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, my new friends! I got a '78 Cordoba with a 3speed/intermitant wiper. I've searched hither and therer for the nylon dewflinger that attaches to the motor. If I don't find one, I'm gonna cry. Then, I guess I'll swap it out with anything I can find to fit. Or, I'll swap it out with something my new friends have to get rid of. h'ep me puleez! O yeh... wipe it off before you put it away!

Wow I guess I shoulda gotten back over here alot sooner than I have...sorry but I've been in a push for folks hitting Carlisle and not getting alot of computer time, but I'm getting motors out LOL

Rich lemme do some research on that for you. I'm not gonna shoot my mouth off without knowing if something is possible, I mean really anything is possible, but at what cost and how much aggravation, right?

Purplebird, you got a part number on that wiper motor on your RR? If it's a three speed it should be a part number 2983116 and mounts parallel with the firewall...or is it black with a ballast resistor on the outside? That would be a two speed...unless someone's changed it out prior to you and then we'll get it figured out.

Ron I gave you a call a couple weeks ago and left a message...maybe we'll touch base when we both quit playing phone tag? LOL

I have a database of wiper motor part numbers/applications, body styles, bench test procedures, two to three speed wiper motor conversion information, etc. on my website if you wanna cruise over there and take a look in the information area...I'd be glad to see ya over there and if you have any questions, contact me, I don't bite? That's just vicious rumor ;o)

I believe that's a C body motor with a 67 date code, although there's too many numbers in the date code you posted. It "can" work on your car if the timing on the switch plate and the crank arm are correct for the application. If it's the older 982 type motor you'll have to use a crank arm that says "V SPEED" stamped on it, if it's the later model 3 speed, correct bulkhead connector and wiring order into the bulkhead connector, correct timing on the switch plate and correct crank arm, it will also work.

Can you post photos of the motor I'll help you figure out what you have to do to make the motor work for your application?

Default Conversion question

I'm converting from a two-speed system to three-speed in my '69 Super Bee. There are currently two brown wires under my dash that were not connected to my instrument cluster. I've been told they go to my new three-speed switch and have to do with the washer.

I believe the washer worked fine before I removed the instrument cluster. Do these two brown wires need to be connected to the new three-speed switch, or can I leave them as I found them?

Thanks.

doing a 2 to 3 speed conversion on a 68-70 B Body application, you will have to replace the wiper motor crank with part #2822273, 3 speed bushing part #2580200, and a 3 speed switch part #2864014. The rest of the linkage, wiring etc remains the same.

Thanks. I have all the parts- switch, bushing, motor and crank. I was told the two brown wires that weren't connected before are for the washer. They connect to two spades on the back of the three-speed switch.
