Cool

My first Mopar was a plymoth volare coupe, with a rebuilt 360. The only problem i have with it is that it is an automatic. Although, it shifts better than my dads 2000 chevy 2500.

First one was a 65 Coronet 440. 135,000 miles on a wore out mom and dad 440...4 speed...all bondo...$275. Then a 73 Dart...318...3 speed. Then a 66 Barracuda...slant 6 auto. Then a 70 Barracuda...318...slapstick. Then a 67 Belvedere...318. 20 years ago I bought the car I have now. 68 GTX 440. Amazing how the value of that car is going through the roof. Just goes to show how awesome those old Mopars were. It all started for me in high school at my first job at a gas station. Ever since that black on black 68 Hemi Roadrunner pulled up to the pump...I've been hooked ever since. That was in 1977 and the guy still has it. Imagine what that thing is worth?

Default First Mopar

Mine was a 65 Valiant, \6, 3 on the tree. Very dependable car! Had a lot of fun with it. My first fire breathing Mopar was a 64 Sport Fury, 383 auto. That car was a beast. I still miss that one!

When I was 16 I drove my mom's '73 Charger. But my first car that was "mine" was a '66 Coronet 500 with a 361. The cool part about this is I still own it, 22 years later.

Right then and there i was hooked for life! In 1982, a month after i graduated high school, i found a gold matalic 74 charger that i restored, and still have today. MOPAR FOREVER!

My first mopar was a 1971 Plymouth Fury right after high school, And the mopars always stuck with me ever since, They always had an appeal that was way cooler and meaner than alot of the chebbies and fords.

My first car was a 1975 dodge monaco 360 2 bbl. It was a sweet looking four door in my opinion and it rode like a dream. It was very comfortable and some sack to it as well for a c body. I def miss it, but I can only afford so many vehicles.

No need to resize... use http://www.tinypic.com or http://imageshack.us and they will resize for you. Well, to a point, if they're 2mb files you might need to do something!

If that's the case, anyway, download Irfanview for free and use that. Simple, so simple even I can do it.

Default First MOPAR

My first (now Mopar) 1955 Nash Metropolitan convertible, second 1949 Plymouth 4 door, Then my mother won a 1960 Valiant in a soap contest and I was hooked on slant sixes for the next 47 years. Always liked Chrysler engineering, the way Mopar spent money on engineering, not advertising like GM. And the engineering was to make better cars, not cheaper cars.
Current keepers; 69 Barracuda convertible, 42 Dodge WC47 half ton, 74 Valiant and 99 Durango.

My first was a 72 Duster with a 225 slant six, 727 AT, bench seat, granny gold paint and a black vinyl top. I loved that car, should have never gotten rid of it either. I actually traded it for a 73 340 Dart but quickly realized I got the short end of the stick as the Dart had a bad front end and extreme negative camber. Blew through a set of front tires at least once a month, literally! I've owned 5 or 6 A bodies since and currently have a 65 Dart GT with a 360 transplanted into it. It's a WIP that I hope to someday complete.

My friends owned Mopars and thats what got me hooked. I love the A bodies, even though they are probably the hardest to find parts for. Mopar has become such a part of my life that all my pets are named after a Mopar product, I've got one dog named Dakota, one named Hemi and a bird named Valiant.

Mopar 4 Life!!

My story has kind of a wierd ending to my ownership of my first Mopar. It was a 1971 short bed Power Wagon, Had a 340 out of a wrecked Duster, mated to the stock 4 speed, Had the Meyers sno plow package on it. I painted it a beautiful dark Maroon. bolted on a set of Modified stock car wheels, with 11x15 Tru Tracs, Back then people would just stare as I drove by. It was also pretty qwick for a pickup truck. Wish I still had it.

Here is where my story gets a little wierd. One day a friend and I stopped to get some lunch at the local hot dog stand, we were stitting there BS`ing, eating our lunch when some dude pulls up and comes walking over to us, Now this guy looks like something out of the movie "The night of the living dead" One fugly looking dude. We were just kids at the time, still in school, and I remember looking at my friend who had this look of horror on his face and him muttering something to the effect if the guy was going to talk to us or eat us.

Anyway, the guy ask`s if the truck is mine, and if it is for sale. I replyed some smart a.. remark about everything being for sale for the right price.

He then tells me that he has been trying to catch up to me around town to inquire about the truck. The next words he spoke really floored me, He asks if I will take 5 grand for the truck. ( I only paid 1500 bucks for the rig ) Wow, what do I do now, I really loved my truck, it was just really cool at that time, you rarely ever saw a short bed Power wagon around my part of the world. Well to make a long story short, I took the money..... Back at that time I could have bought a brand new car with that amount of cash.

Now as Paul Harvey used to say "Is the rest of the story" The guy turns out to be an American Merchant Marine, (Looks like he was dragged up from Davey Jones Locker ) who at the time lived in of all places Saudi Arabia. Yup the guy ships the truck with the sno plow to the desert. He claimed he could sell the rig over there for 3 times the money.....who knows, maybe he did.

I know I wished I had kept the old truck, I have owned probably 20 mopars since, 3 Dodges in the driveway or the garage right now, plus I currently have 9 Jeeps sitting at home. My kids have all caught the bug, they have Mopars in their driveway also.

Sorry for the loooong post guys.

A bondo filled 1970 SuperBee I got from my old man. He restored a rustfree one, this one came in the deal as a parts car. I purchsed a 77 gran Fury cop 440 for $75.00 my dads friend gave me free headers and header mufflers. I rebult an old Holley that was lying around, trans came out of a 74 imperial, put in a shift kit, I can't rember where the 3.23 posi came from, bolted on some old traction bars, and flipped the white walls to the inside and she was ready to go. I was 17 and was that fun. My favorite car I've ever owned by far! Someone painted it bright green, had dark green interior w/buckets and console. Did too many burnouts to count that summer, untill I got nailed at 55 mph in the pass side quarter, by a dodge omni!
Totaled it. I still have it though. Used quite a few parts on my 70 Coronet 500. But nothing else I've had since has been as cool as that car. You never know, maybe I'll get the cash and fixer up someday.

Of course, their intent all along was to make money, but I hear you... make money by making better cars that would sell because people learned that they hung in there better...

That Nash Metropolitan, though. You really wouldn't admit to that, would you?

Conceived by Kelvinator, engineered by Austin, styled by someone who had a definite problem. Not a lot going for it!

On the other hand, I recently had a bit of an acquaintance with a Nash Statesman of the same era, it was a nice car.

Cry Nick Valiant- Narc Car

It was a dark... dark green 1969 Valiant... a four door... looked like a Narc Car.
Then late one night... a dark and foggy night... some drunk drove by at about 65 miles an hour in a Caddy... a big black Caddy... he nearly missed my dark green Valiant... but he didn't... He Nicked it!!!

1962 Newport 361-2, my Dad's old car. Bought it from him when I was 16. Now I'm driving a 2002 Intrepid R/T, which I've "modified" over the past three years so the drive-train is up to 300M Special standards and then some.

In 1998 I had a mid-life crisis and bought my dream car of youth, a 1972 Road Runner GTX - Torred w/reflective black strobes down the C-pillar. I'm still building her - she was in pretty bad shape when I got her home and it's taken lots of $$$ just to get this far. But I want to do it right since I'll probably own her 'til I can't drive anymore, at which point one of my grandsons will inherit her.

Why did I stick w/Mopar all these years? That's easy - nothing beats a Mopar but another Mopar ...!
