My is a 68 Dart 225 auto on the column, and i am currently putting a 340 4spd in it. I was hooked ever since my dad bought his 68 dodge charger 440 4spd and I felt the power of a true muscle car that most chevy's and fords could never match.

First car was 1969 Satellite with 318 and auto. I paid for it all myself, paid for all the gas, insurance, etc. I loved that car. Dated my wife in that car. Don't remember why I let it slip away. Anyway, to this day I still dream that I find it, fix it up, etc. My plan for the past 30 years has been to replace it with a 69 road runner, which I have finally done. So, even though it has taken a while, I am not a late comer to Mopar.

My first car was a 64 Dodge Dart 2 door with a 170 in it. That car bounced around the family for about 20 years to about 7 different family members and the selling price was always the same $150.00. Sad to say my dad finally sold it to an outsider. He did get a nice price for it though.

Wow, 51 pages of Mopar stories. I forgot if I posted to this, but Ill rewind back to 1985. 1965 Plymouth Barracuda, 727 auto with a '68 340 transplanted mill, TQ (I had never seen such a carb) and a cheap home made shifter, basically a 3 sp shifter handle pivoting at the floorboard acting right upon the trans shift lever. You never knew what gear you were in, and absolutely no R or P lockout, scary! Still had the 7.25 sure grip 3.55 rear and 10 inch wide tires with shackles in the back to keep the fenders clear. Didnt know how fast it was until I would race, er...attempt to get in front of a big block Nova that my gear head friend had, and a 340 Duster. Would kill both off the line and would never lose ground after that.
Reason I never left? After leaving for the Corps and having to sell that car, I bought another 65 when I got back and have had it ever since, 18 years now. You could go to a car show with a driver muscle era Mopar and get more looks and conversation that trailer queen Fords or Chevys right next to you. Seems Everyone had one of your cars at one time in there life and always had something positive to say about it. Also, people just know that a nice Mopar is really a labor of time as parts are not repopped in taiwan like shoebox chevy's or Mustangs so they know that you have spent some real time on it. Now a nice AMC is really rare, they can park next to me anytime.

Default gotta add one more story

My first Chrysler product was a 1971 B-5 GTX white roof and interior. A car that I still own now going on 28 years later. I will have to surmise it will be up to one of my 3 sons to carry the torch onward when the time comes. Until then however, nothing compares to taking a cruise in the 'X'. Mopar to Ya

Hey, I didn't know my dad was on here... (Really)

My first mopar experience was with his 60 plymouth and 72 Satellite wagon. I've always loved 'em. It's a disease, once you catch it, you're with it til the end.

1974 Dodge Charger, 318. What really made the car cool was the crankback sunroof. But it also had bucket seats with a console and slapstick automatic. It was only 6 years old when I bought it for $1600.00. Sure wish I still had it.

I bought my R/T in 1983, the summer after I got out of high school. I got hooked on Mopars by driving my bosses' 69' van that had a 354 Hemi shoehorned into it. Talk about great burnouts.

1980 Dodge Diplomat, 318..2 door! It was Maroon with black & chrome American racing wheels. It was a tough old car..especially for my 16 year old self. I actually learned how to drive in a '75 Coronet..it was HUGE. I had to sit on 2 pillows just to see over the hood. Ive been hooked ever since....

A 1967 Dodge R\T 383 AUTO BUCKET SEATS SOLID WHITE WITH RED TRIM.

I was hooked on the top end speed. It was the first factory car I had owned that would pass 120. The R\T would do 140 +

1966 Plymouth Belvedere II. Bought it for $200 and drove it home. It was a mess but it was a good father son project.

Not sure why I am still hooked.

'74 Charger hardtop coupe with all four windows that rolled down. It was modified when I bought it, but it was Hemi orange, had a power bulge hood with 440+6 emblems, even though it was only a 360. It had dog dish hubcaps, true dual exhaust, and nice black interior.

I've been chasing Mopars since I wrecked it in '95.

71 Charger SE 383 4bbl. auto was the first car I ever bought. but the first car I was able to get ins. on and drive was a 72 Duster slant6, 3 speed on the floor and 3.55 rear . I took the cam, carb., intake, and exhaust manifold off of a 60 something 2 tun truck with a locked up slant in it and put in a 4 speed and was out running 305 IROC 's and stock rustang gt's with it. IT all most got me in a fight with a 30 year old rustang owner when I was 17 for out running him when I told him it was a 225 slant 6 he said i must have a 340 in it and was very mad when I opened the hood. It just ran really good for what it was. It ran high 14's. Been hooked ever since.

My first MOPAR was a 1968 Dodge Coronet 440. It was white w/ a forrest green vinal top and interior. It had the old red block 318 (230hp) w/ a Hollwy 600. Was really fast and reliable. Lost her when she was hit at a light where a man ran the red light right into her. I sure miss that car. The most fun of the past MOPARS was my ol' 1969 Dodge Dart GTS 340. I really miss that one too!
Currently I am restoring a numbers matching 1972 Plymouth Duster 340. It is Basin Street Blue and has a black interior. It has the 727 console shift and 3.55 gears. I had begun my love affair w/ MOPARS in 1979 when I went to School to learn Autobody in Williamsport PA. All of my friends had some really rare and awsome musclecars. (Road Runners, 'Cudas, Challengers, Chargers, Dusters, Demons and Darts) All of them were really fantastic examples of what Ma MOPAR produced "in the day". I have just decided to join you all here on this site.

Thanks for having me

Mine was a 1966 Valiant Signet - the first car I ever restored (even though I personally did not do much of the major work on it). My father owned a body shop and he was just getting out of Vintage cars and into Muscle Cars. This was the late 70's and I was about 14 years old and we got this car. We put a wicked Laquer Black paint job on it, a warmed 383, leather interior, padded top, original Cragar's and Bias Ply Road Hugger tires. I loved it.

My Dad passed when I was 21 and I got the car. Being young and STUPID, I sold it to pay off my Credit Card...DUMB MOVE!

SORRY FOR THR BLURRY PICTURE!! It's all I have left.

I bought my first 1967 Plymouth Belvedere II for $200 as well. Sold it 2 years later for $300. Whooo 50% appreciation. I spend countless hours trying to find it again 3 years later to buy it back. Never did find it.

Cool

My first car owned at the age of 16 was a 1969 Butterscotch Super Bee 440 - 6 pack, 4 speed, with a lift of hood of course. My father purchased the car new and drove the bee for 3 years, then parked the car until 1981 when I turned 16. To date we still have the car and the entire family drive mopars.
