Default 1500 360 vrs 2500 360

OK a guy I work with has a 2001 Ram 2500 ext cab short bed with 4.10 gears and 265/75 tires well we both got on it on the highway , him before me and I didn't catch up to him as quick as we both thought I would!!!
Now with everything I have done to my truck I would have thought I would have caught up a little quicker then I did!
Now dose the gears and tires make that much difference???
I have stock 3.55 to his 4.10
and tires he has 265/75 to my 285/75 swampers

I think I am just a little disapointed in my top end acceleration
She is an animal off the line but I think my top end sucks!!!

Your tires will suck up your power!! Even with 4.56 gears and a blower I dont beat a stock truck by more than one to one and a half truck lengths.

Im runnin 4:10's with 315/75/R16's I have a 360 with mods and I can make those Big babys howl off the line they sound like a coon dog baying at the moon. I put my 245's on last week as I wanted to turn the rubber around on my 315's (white letters in) and it was the first time I had run the 245's since all the mods. WOW what a smoker It was unreal I could lite those babys up till the cows came home. Once I found the right pedal pressure she hauled great out of the hole. Now i've got the big old 315's back on she still gets up and go's okay but nothin like those 245's It looked funny with those 245's and the lift and suspension mods. So in short more horsepower and 4.56 will be comin soon but I'm not into the ashphalt anyway and RAMPANT runs real good off road, it's still fun though to toast a few Ricers for the first 200 feet.

Your gear and tire combo will make a huge difference on how quickly your Ram will wind up. If you went to 4.10's like Sun Ra did you would be a happy camper. I plan on some day going to 35" so I am going to 4.56's when I change my gears.

If I am able to straighten out my fingers and am able to get rid of the shit-eaten-grin off my face, I will post my reactions from going to 4.56 gears. LOL -- WOOHOOOO
